Pretty medieval manuscript of the day is an indulgence roll from the collection of the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. This is a photograph of the top portion. The description reads:
Parchment roll, unevenly trimmed at top and bottom, composed of three membranes segments glued together, the third an addition of the late fifteenth century.
Note of a 16th-century owner at the end of the roll: An Indulgence of Innocent VI ca. 1352.
It’s a magnificent thing isn’t it? Quite different from the books we’ve looked at recently.
