Pretty medieval manuscript of the day shows Pope Innocent IV giving his opinion on the Decretals. Something about this manuscript reminded me of that Spanish fresco which was ‘restored’ by an overly enthusiastic member of the church’s congregation. Let’s face it, this is a lavish book with lots of colour and gilding, and yet it is pretty naff isn’t it?Β
Hope everyone is enjoying this series of images of popes. A few more coming up…
